Best Practice for Battery:

When to charge batteries?

We recommend to charge them:

  1. After season, before storing

  2. While storing, every 6 months

  3. After storing, before use

Troubleshooting:

Solid blue light indicates charger is connected to power

Flashing Green indicates charging in process

Solid Green indicates charging is finished (except for when completely discharged, see below).

Don’t see any green light? Rotate buoy. Try the position where blue sticker is on the right.

Red light flashes one time after plugging in? No problem, that is normal. Red light remains flashing after green light flashing? The buoy is probably fully charged- no problem- just inspect for any visible damage on the buoy, if nothing, place in seawater with a clear view of sky and 10ft from boat or structure. Then after 15 minutes check battery level on iphone app or webpage from computer, app.blueoceangear.com. It may be fully charged.

Buoy doesn’t transmit, green light goes from flashing to solid green within 60 seconds from being placed on charger? The buoy is likely drained completely and needs a trickle charge. Leave buoy on charger for 8 hours while solid green, then remove for 60 seconds, then replace on charger for 8 hours. Repeat as needed until buoy flashes green for more than 60 seconds when placed on charger. Then you know it’s taking a proper charge.
